Abstract
En el presente trabajo se aborda un doble análisis de los epitafios dedicados a una mujer, Basila, escritos por Eugenio de Toledo (carm. 22 y 23). En la primera parte, se intenta demostrar que estos poemas están escritos utilizando tópicos, temas y motivos propios de la epigrafía y que más allá de la intención del autor de que fueran grabados o no, sí están compuestos bajo un more epigraphico. Así, gracias a este análisis podremos acercarnos más al conocido como ‘género literario epigráfico’. En la segunda parte, se realiza un análisis crítico de la construcción del concepto de feminidad en este tipo de composiciones a través de la teoría de la performatividad. En su conjunto, el trabajo propone un modelo de trabajo que estudie de manera integral el texto, añadiendo, además, nuevas metodologías de trabajo puramente filológicas, en este caso, inscritas en el ámbito de la pragmática.
The essay posits a double analysis of the epitaphs devoted to a certain woman named Basilla by Eugenius of Toledo (carm. 22 and 23). The first part of the essay assumes that these poems are written through commonplaces and ordinary topics, issues and motifs ingrained with epigraphic conventions and that, despite the author’s design to see these poems actually imprinted on stone, they are indeed composed under the rule of amore epigraphico. Thus, thanks to the present analysis, the essay offers new takes on the genre commonly known as the ‘epigraphic literary genre’. e second part conveys a critical analysis of the construction of femininity through the theory of performativity. All in all, the essay puts forward an overall method to discuss the text holistically, thus adding new and purely philological methodologies, significantly, in this case, connected to pragmatics.
