La relación entre ortodoxia y herejía: el valor de la tesis de Walter Bauer a principios del siglo XXI

Abstract

En este TFM se estudian lo que algunos académicos han dicho sobre la tesis de Walter Bauer sobre el origen de la herejía/ortodoxia. El análisis se centra en los errores que dichos estudiosos han visto a la tesis de Walter Bauer. En este TFM se ha empleado el método histórico-filológico. Primero, se introduce la obra de Walter Bauer "Orthodoxy and Heresy in Earliest Christianity" (1934) y las tesis. Después, hay un estudio de los errores que los estudiosos han encontrado en la tesis de Bauer y un análisis del tema de la herejía/ortodoxia. En la conclusión, se encuentra un sumario de los problemas que la tesis de Bauer presenta y una serie de recomendaciones para posibles trabajos sobre el tema en el futuro. El estudio revela que la tesis de Bauer presenta muchos errores y que estuvo mal planteada desde un principio.

This paper is a research about what some scholars have argued about Walter Bauer’s thesis on the origins of heresy and orthodoxy since 1980. The analysis is focused on the errors which these scholars have found in that thesis. The analysis follows methods used in philology and history. First, there is an introduction to Walter Bauer’s "Orthodoxy and Heresy in Earliest Christianity" (1934) and the thesis he put forward in the book. Then, there is a study of the errors which scholars have found in his thesis and an analysis of the topic of heresy/orthodoxy. In the conclusion, there is a summary of many of the mistakes that scholars have found on Bauer’s thesis and a number of recommendations for future research. This paper concludes that Bauer’s thesis has many errors and that it was put forward defectively since its beginnings.
