Las causas de las glaciaciones

Abstract

Los intentos de explicar los climas fríos comenzaron a finales del siglo XVIII, y aún prosiguen. Una importante y variada cantidad de hipótesis (astronómicas, geológicas, biológicas) atestiguan que el problema es complejo, y que podría ser multicausal. El tema del clima adquiere además un perfil dramático, dado que sabemos que sus alteraciones pueden ser rápidas, y que el hombre moderno ha surgido hacia el final de un periodo glacial que sospechamos que puede estar a punto de terminar.

Efforts to understand cold climates began toward the end of 18th century, and they are still alive. During this time, a varied quantity of hypotheses from the astronomical, geological and biological fields have been put forward, which attest to a high-complexity, perhaps multi-causal topic. A topic with a dramatic profile, since we have learnt that climate can change very quickly, and modern man has appeared near the end of a glacial period which could well be very near its end.
