Proceeding from the Freudian premise of recalling as a way to enter into a less painful condition, this thesis explores the study of case histories and culture stories, especially documentary films, which build memory on everyday stories of the father and his “loving desire”. Acording Freud, memory is a relationship between an indelible script and a perception system that interrupts (as in magic blackboard); while there is constant rereading or rewriting of memories that insists through the unconscious oblivion. Cinema and psychoanalysis have a long common history, which this paper explores to ilustrate that both territories are part of a colective modern memory which makes the human experience pass through the Freudian nachträglich, where the traumatic traces are modified according to new scored, experiences and stories. An articulated pass and the stories that are build on the couch take the status of myth or fiction in relation to memory. It is known that “myth” or “fiction” are not equivalent to untruth, but truths that are partially expressed (the truth is never complete) in the making of a narrative structure .
