Santiago Ramón y Cajal : sinapsis entre ciencia y literatura. Reglas, consejos y cuentos

Abstract

«Sinapsis» significa enlace: la presente tesis estudia la unión entre ciencia y literatura a través de textos ensayísticos --Reglas y consejos sobre investigación científica-- y textos ficcionales --Cuentos de vacaciones y La vida en el año 6000-- del padre de la teoría de la neurona, Santiago Ramón y Cajal, premio Nobel de Medicina en 1906 y figura esencial en la historia de España y en la historia de la ciencia. Estos textos forman parte de una obra literaria de marcado carácter divulgativo y pedagógico, que se construye con el concurso de elementos científicos y elementos sobre la ciencia literariamente formalizados. El análisis de estas obras aporta información sobre la carrera como literato de Cajal y permite juzgar con mayor fundamento si su producción presenta originalidad y valor literario. De su estudio también se extraen datos reseñables sobre el pensamiento de Cajal y sobre el contexto histórico en el que vivió. De ahí que este trabajo no solo aborde un tema interdisciplinar, sino un marco metodológico asentado en la crítica literaria y el análisis del texto en el que convergen disciplinas tales como la filología, la historia o la filosofía...

«Synapsis» means link: this thesis studies the union between science and literature through essay texts -- Advice for a Young Investigator -- and fictional texts --Vacation Stories and Life in the year 6000-- by the father of the theory of the neuron, Santiago Ramón y Cajal, Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1906 and an essential figure in the history of Spain and in the scientific world. These texts are part of a literary work of a marked informative and pedagogical nature, which is built with the help of scientific elements and elements about science that are literary formalized. The analysis of these works provides information on Cajal's career as a writer and allows a more well-founded judgment of whether his production presents originality and literary value. This study allows to characterize Cajal's thought as well as the historical context in which he lived. Hence, this work not only addresses an interdisciplinary theme, but also a methodological framework based on literary criticism and text analysis in which disciplines such as philology, history or philosophy converge...
