Historia del Trabajo Social: la figura de Mary Ellen Richmond Harris bajo la mirada de los estudiantes

Abstract

En el año 2011 confluyen una serie de acontecimientos que no dejan indiferente a los estudiantes y al personal docente e investigador de la Escuela Universitaria de Trabajo Social (EUTS) de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, celebrándose los veinticinco años de Escuela Universitaria, la primera promoción de Grado, y del curso de adaptación teniendo en cuenta las directrices del Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior.

También, se celebra el Año Internacional del bosque, siendo el árbol símbolo para recordar nuestro árbol genealógico; es interesante reflexionar teniendo en cuenta la memoria histórica para saber de dónde partirnos, para saber el porqué estamos aquí y para saber hacia dónde seguir caminando, pero para ello debemos retomar las raíces de nuestra profesión a través de Mary Ellen Richmond Harris, de cuyo nacimiento se cumplen ahora 150 años.

Una de las actividades a realizar en la EUTS es la celebración del 150º de Mary E. Richmond, en este marco, es el análisis de artículos del número 24 de la Revista de Cuadernos de Trabajo Social de la Escuela Universitaria de Trabajo Social, Universidad Complutense.

Esta actividad será realizada por los estudiantes de tres grupos, de primer curso, de Grado de la asignatura Bases Teóricas del Trabajo Social, se trabajará, de forma trasversal y con una metodología cualitativa; realizando un análisis y búsqueda bibliográfica obteniendo como resultado seis pósteres, desde la mirada de los estudiantes de primer curso supervisada por cuatro profesoras.

Ante los desafíos de un mundo cambiante, en estos tiempos líquidos de Bauman y en un mundo individualista, según Ulrich y Elisabeth Beck, qué mejor, que estimular la actividad grupal de interconexión entre estudiantes, profundizando en las raíces del Trabajo Social sobre la base del 150º aniversario de Mary E. Richmond mostrando seis pósteres en el IX Congreso de estudiosos y estudiantes de la disciplina.
