Alta sensibilidad en estudiantes universitarios: comprobación de las propiedades psicométricas de HSP-Scale

Abstract

El presente estudio pretende probar las propiedades psicométricas de la adaptación transcultural realizada por Chacón et al.(2020) de la escala HSP de Aron (1996). Para ello, se procedió en primer lugar a comprobar la fiabilidad y validez de constructo del instrumento a través de un análisis factorial confirmatorio para datos categóricos (CFA). En concreto, se usó un procedimiento de ajuste a los datos ordinales utilizando la matriz de correlación policórica combinada con el estimador DWLS (Diagonally Weighted Least Squares). Para la consistencia interna se calcularon el coeficiente alfa ordinal y el coeficiente Omega de McDonald's cuyos resultados confirmaron las puntuaciones obtenidas por Chacón et al.(2020).Las personas que participaron en el estudio fueron estudiantes de la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos y lo hicieron de manera anónima y voluntaria. Finalmente se quiso cotejar si existían diferencias en cuanto al sexo respecto a la sensibilidad y obtuvimos la existencia de diferencias estadísticamente significativas en todas las dimensiones (sensibilidad a la sobreestimulación (SOS), sensibilidad estética (AES), umbral sensorial bajo (LST), discriminación psicofisiológica fina (FPD) y (HA) evitación al daño). Concluimos, por tanto, que la escala HSP validada para población española es eficaz, pero se recomienda replicar estudios con muestras más amplias y comprobar si en España contamos con diferencias significativas en la sensibilidad ligada al sexo.

The present study aims to test the psychometric properties of the cross-cultural adaptation by Chacón et al. (2021) of Aron's (1996) HSP scale. To this end, we first tested the reliability and construct validity of the instrument by means of a confirmatory factor analysis for categorical data (CFA). Specifically, a procedure of adjustment to ordinal data using the polychoric correlation matrix combined with the DWLS (Diagonally Weighted Least Squares) estimator was used. For internal consistency, the ordinal alpha coefficient and the McDonald's Omega coefficient were calculated, the results of which confirmed the scores obtained by Chacón et al. (2020). The people who participated in the study were students at the Rey Juan Carlos University and did so anonymously and voluntarily. Finally, we wanted to check whether there were gender differences in sensitivity, and we found statistically significant differences in all dimensions (sensitivity to overstimulation (SOS), aesthetic sensitivity (AES), low sensory threshold (LST), fine psychophysiological discrimination (FPD) and harm avoidance (HA). We conclude, therefore, that the HSP scale validated for the Spanish population is effective, but it is recommended to replicate studies with larger samples and to check whether there are significant differences in sensitivity linked to sex in Spain.
