Estructura del margen noroeste ibérico: influencia de la herencia tectónica en la extensión e inversión alpinas

Abstract

El margen Noribérico delimita al sur el Golfo de Vizcaya, que a su vez se encuentra delimitado al norte por el margen de los Western Aproaches y el margen Armoricano. Se trata de un margen de rift pobre en magma parcialmente invertido. La compleja estructura del margen continental Noribérico es el resultado de la superposición de las orogenias varisca y alpina, entre las que se intercaló una tectónica extensional durante los tiempos mesozoicos. Estos eventos comienzan con el orógeno Varisco y su colapso en el Pérmico (Burg et al., 1994a, 1994b), seguido de varias etapas de rift desde el Triásico hasta el Cretácico inferior. Finalmente, el margen Noribérico se correlaciona lateralmente con la parte más occidental del Orógeno Pirenaico, cuyo basamento pertenece a las zonas Cantábrica, Asturoccidental-Leonesa y Centro Ibérica del orógeno Varisco...

The North-Iberian margin defines the southern boundary of the Bay of Biscay, which in turnis bounded to the north by the Western Approaches and Armorican margins. It is a partially inverted, magma-poor rifted margin. The complex structure of the North-Iberian continental margin is the result of the superposition of the Variscan and Alpine orogenies, between which extensional tectonics occurred during the Mesozoic. These events began with the Variscan orogen and its Permian collapse (Burg et al., 1994a, 1994b), followed by several rifting stages from the Triassic to the Early Cretaceous.
