Abstract

People have been related to Nature in the different historic and cultural contexts, and there are different ways of understanding it. In the Western context, human-Nature relationships have evolved in such a way that Nature has acquired a higher consideration itself, leading to environmental concern. However, despite the changes, is present an anthropocentric view of it, where the human-being role is essential at the time of understanding it, both being differentiated entities. A field of study in Environmental Psychology deals with the subjective relationships between the human-being and Nature. To study them, several concepts and measures have been developed, both emotional and cognitive, such as, Connectedness to Nature (Mayer andFrantz, 2004) or Love and Care for Nature (Perkins, 2010). However, when people report their level of connectedness to Nature, it is not clear what they mean by Nature, being necessary to clarify the definition of the concept...
