Abstract
ABSTRACT : Art has become a manifestation of new meditative and transcendent quests in our current post-secular times. In this context, researchers of poetic neo-Mysticism have focused their studies on the result (unity) rather than the process, that of the rite of asceticism, which leads to such a culmination. The article “Morphology of the ascetic poem” aims to address theoretical and epistemological aspects of asceticism when it is expressed through literary channels, in order to go on to examine some elements of the configuration of a type of poem that is related to the ascetic ritual; specifically, it analyses silence, as a mark of transition, and some procedures of repetition in the construction of the poems, as well as their effects: from meditation to ecstasy. As paradigmatic examples of this “ascetic” writing in Spanish, the poems of Hugo Mujica, Clara Janés and Gloria Gervitz will be analysed.
