La incorporación de los proverbios de Menandro a la tradición cultural eslava medieval

Abstract

El propósito de esta tesis radica en analizar las traducciones antiguo eslavas de los monósticos atribuidos a Menandro, el cómico ateniense del siglo IV a.C. Aunque sus comedias se transmitieron con más dificultad durante cierto tiempo, los aforismos contenidos en estas producciones cómicas, así como en otros dichos asignados al autor, sobrevivieron en colecciones griegas compiladas por el Imperio bizantino y fueron subsiguientemente trasladadas a distintas lenguas antiguas, entre las que se cifra el antiguo eslavo.[ABSTRACT]In this thesis, I have two goals. First, I study the Slavic proverbs attributed to Menander as evidence for medieval Slavic translational praxis and textual transmission processes. Second, I investigate selected keywords in the proverbs as documentation of the medieval Orthodox Slavic— in particular, monastic—worldview, as normative texts that were copied in order to instruct the readers how to live. I conduct the analysis using wellestablished philological methods—collation of manuscript witnesses (both Greek and Slavic), linguistic analysis of orthographic phonological, morphological, syntactic, and lexical variation, and close reading of case studies.
