Abstract

La presente tesis propone un estudio a partir del reto de traducir al escritor italiano Carlo Emilio Gadda, uno de los autores supuestamente intraducibles por llevar su escritura hasta los límites de la auto-referencialidad. La página gaddiana teje múltiples hilos que brotan del sustrato filosófico que alimenta la creación literaria del autor. Intertextualidad, registro coloquial y arcaísmos, dialecto e italiano literario, se entretejen deformando la realidad en busca de una verdad que, sin embargo, es imposible alcanzar,es decir, expresar, sin sobrepasar los límites del lenguaje. Un recorrido a través de la íntima relación entre traducción y hermenéutica conduce al traductor a la necesaria toma de decisiones que le permitan llevar a cabo su tarea. Profundizar en el análisis de los textos integrando la crítica sobre el autor y nuevas reflexiones sobre su poética es el primer paso para poder elegir qué información es primordial para la interpretación de los textos. La lectura al microscopio que impone la traducción permite entrever ciertos nudos que nos revelan algo del sistema de sistemas que el autor no deja de diseñar a lo largo de su vida...

The following thesis is a study emanating from the challenges faced whentranslating Carlo Emilio Gadda. The Italian author's use of self-reference in his work isso extreme that it has pushed his writing to its limits, making it deemed to beuntranslatable. A gaddian page is a rich tapestry. It takes the many strands emerging fromthe philosophical substrate which feed our writer's literary creation and weaves togetherintertextuality, colloquial and archaic registers, dialect and formal Italian in the author'squest for the truth. Unfortunately, this truth cannot be found, that is, put into wordswithout pushing the boundaries of language to the limit and this results in a distortion ofreality. The close link which exists between translating and hermeneutics means that thetranslator needs to make certain decisions in order to carry out his work. The first thingthe translator needs to do to be able to give a fair interpretation of the texts, is to decidewhich pieces of information are fundamental to the writing. This is done through a deeperanalysis of the texts, taking into account reviews of the author and new thoughts on hispoetics. Translating requires going through a text with a fine toothcomb...
