Abstract
Son abundantes los análisis e investigaciones sobre la importancia que tuvo la libertad de imprenta en las Cortes de Cádiz e, incluso, en el Trienio Liberal, no así del período posterior a este. La relevancia y el carácter inédito de esta investigación consiste en aportar luz sobre los años anteriores a la llegada de Isabel II al trono: del período que va desde la muerte de Fernando VII en 1833 hasta la consolidación del modelo político liberal en España en 1837. Consolidación porque, a partir de 1837, los intentos absolutistas no lograron establecerse. En cada una de estas etapas, existe una legislación sobre la libertad de imprenta que nos permite estudiar y ver la profundidad del compromiso jurídico y social con la libertad. La hipótesis de partida sería que la Constitución de 1837 es la primera constitución liberal moderna y viable en España...
Numerous analysis and investigations have explored the significance of freedom of press in the Cortes of Cadiz and during the Liberal Triennium, but little attention has been given to the period succeeding these events. The relevance of this research lies in shedding light on the years preceding Isabel II’s accession to throne – the period from the death of Fernando VII in 1833 to the consolidation of the liberal political model in Spain in 1837. Consolidation occurred because, from 1837 onwards, absolutists attempt failed to establish themselves. In each of these stages, legislation on freedom of press existed, which allows us to examine the depth of the legal and social commitment to liberty. The initial hypothesis suggests that the 1837 Constitution is the first modern and viable liberal constitution in Spain...
