El funeral en la ortodoxia cristiana: bases teológico-eclesiásticas, creencias populares y actuales, y su aplicación en España

Abstract

El siguiente trabajo recoge las creencias y tradiciones funerarias de la religión cristiana Ortodoxa siguiendo tanto las normas eclesiásticas como las desarrolladas en las sociedades populares, donde se tiene a menudo desconocimiento de tales normas. Asimismo intenta analizar las soluciones que se ofrecen por ambas vías cuando un ritual funerario no puede llevarse a cabo como está establecido debido a la situación física o espiritual del difunto. Finalizará con un vistazo acerca del desarrollo de los actos funerarios de los inmigrantes de la Europa del Este que mantienen su fe ortodoxa en territorio español, de la evolución de la sociedad y del pensamiento de las nuevas generaciones acerca de las tradiciones de sus mayores.The following essay comprises the funerary beliefs and traditions of the Orthodox Christian religion following both the ecclesiastical law and the norms developed by the popular society, where oftentimes such laws are unknown. Furthermore, it tries to analyze the solutions offered by both sides when a funerary ritual cannot be carried out as established due to the physical or spiritual situation of the deceased. Finally, a broad view about the development of the funerary rites of the immigrants from Eastern Europe who keep their orthodox faith in Spanish territory, of the evolution of their society and the thoughts of the new generations on the traditions of their elders will be given.
