Abstract
Las unidades de cuidados intensivos (UCI ) son servicios estresantes, tanto para los pacientes como para sus familias (42), provocando sufrimiento y problemas físicos y psíquicos a largo plazo (43–45). Esto ha dado como resultado la creación de varias herramientas para que personal sin entrenamiento formal en psiquiatría pudiera realizar una evaluación de ansiedad y depresión, y las necesidades de los familiares en cuidados. Proveer una orientación básica sobre los sistemas del hospital y sus procedimientos pueden ayudar a los pacientes y familias nuevos en la UCI en estos aspectos. Planteamos que la visita previa de los familiares y el paciente a la UCI previa al ingreso modifica los niveles de ansiedad, depresión y satisfacción tanto en los pacientes como en los familiares a través de un ensayo clínico abierto aleatorio estratificado comparativo. Este estudio se llevó a cabo en el servicio de Cuidados Intensivos del Hospital Universitario de la Princesa, con un total de 38 parejas de familiar y paciente (19 en cada grupo)...
