Abstract
Since the publication of the first data from Ibn Hayyan's chronicle, the Muqtabis V, between 1975 and 1979, the two accounts of the arrival of Amalfi ships to Al-Andalus provided by him have aroused great interest among researchers. Numerous studies on Amalfi and the commercial and political networks in the Mediterranean during the tenth century have examined the information contained within this eleventh-century chronicle, which is based on Cordoban authors from the Caliphate period. Here, we will undertake a new analysis of the texts, focusing on three aspects that have received less attention: the procedure for commercial transactions, the arrival of ambassadors from Corsica, and the products sold by the Amalfitans, namely brocade and purple.
