Abstract
La moneda es el medio más importante de propaganda política de un Estado y nos da mucha información sobre su estructura. En el caso de la República Romana su principal moneda fue la de bronce, con tipos únicos y mensajes claros, y tras la creación de la moneda de plata, el denario, se intentó seguir el mismo camino. Pero tras su consolidación en la economía romana, su tipología va a ir evolucionando y adoptando cada vez más tipos, y lo más importante, ligados a la historia de de las grandes familias romanas que controlaban el Estado en los siglos finales de la República, donde los aspirantes a entrar en el cursus honorum que tenían el puesto de treviros monetales van a inmortalizar las hazañas de sus antepasados en relación con la historia de Roma, convirtiendo estas piezas prácticamente en monedas "familiares", donde el Estado termina por desaparecer de sus tipos.
The money is the most important means of political propaganda of a State and gives us a lot of information about its structure. In the case of the Roman Republic, its main currency was bronze, with unique types and clear messages, and after the creation of the silver coin, the denarius, an attempt was made to follow the same path. But after its consolidation in the Roman economy, its typology will evolve and adopt more and more types, and most importantly, linked to the history of the great Roman families that controlled the State in the final centuries of the Republic, where the aspiring to enter the cursus honorum that had the position of monetary tresviros will immortalize the deeds of their ancestors in relation to the history of Rome, practically turning these pieces into “family” coins, where the State ends up disappearing from its types.
