Abstract
El objeto de este artículo es analizar en detalle la vida personal y profesional de José González Ferminor, ingeniero militar de origen catalán que trabajó al servicio de la Corona española en el siglo XVIII, cuya labor ha pasado desapercibida para la mayoría de los especialistas. Sin embargo, el análisis de numerosas fuentes gráficas y documentales localizadas en varios archivos nacionales e internacionales, la mayoría de ellas desconocidas hasta la fecha, confirman que trabajó bajo las órdenes del ingeniero jefe de las Reales Obras de Fortificación, Luis Díez Navarro, en la Capitanía General de Guatemala desde 1770 hasta su fallecimiento ocurrido en Omoa en 1778.
The purpose of this article is to analyze in detail the personal and professional life of José González Ferminor. He was a military engineer of Catalan origen, who service the Spanish Crown in the 18th century. His work has gone unnoticed by most specialist. However, an analysis of numerous graphic and documentary sources located in various national and international archives, most of them previously unknown, confirms that he worked under the orders of the chief engineer of the Royal Fortification Works, Luis Díez Navarro. He worked in the Captaincy General of Guatemala from 1880 until his death in Omoa in 1778
