Abstract
People with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are highly likely to exhibit symptoms orbe diagnosed with other disorders, both internalizing (Nunes, 2017; Russell et al., 2016) and externalizing (Kanai et al., 2016; Visser et al., 2016), regardless of their age or cognitive ability. There is sufficient empirical substantiation supporting the higher prevalence of internalizing disorders in people with ASD compared to those without ASD (Bruggink etal., 2016; Jang, 2015); however, comorbidity research is not complete, and among the challenges we find clarifying the relationship of ASD to externalizing disorders and identifying the transdiagnostic processes that cause, enhance, or maintain this comorbidity...
