Abstract
This work describes the use of portfolios in art education, aiming to evaluate and show the practical benefits of portfolios as a creative and educational tool. This is done by analyzing the results of the "Portfolio Project as a Creative Resource for Students' Professional Development from the Classroom" developed by the author during her internship at IES Islas Filipinas between February and April 2024. To achieve this, a mixed participatory action research (PAR) methodology was used, combining qualitative and quantitative methods. This allowed collecting both the students' subjective opinions and objective data on how the portfolio impacted their learning and artistic development. The results showed a significant growth in the students' technical and creative skills, as well as a notable improvement in their organizational and communication abilities. It also encouraged collaboration, critical thinking, and self-assessment among students. Participating in the project increased the students' commitment to their educational process, their self-evaluation, confidence, and motivation. It helped them to understand their strengths and weaknesses better, see their progress, and take ownership of their artistic process. They were able to present satisfactory portfolio proposals, gained confidence, and recognized the support they received from teachers during the "Portfolio Project," despite time constraints. The use of portfolios in art education has proven to be an effective tool that enhances students' personal, academic, and professional development and significantly improves their technical and creative skills, achieving the goals set out in this Master'sTthesis.
