Abstract
ABSTRACT: Julio Garrido is one of the most famous Spanish researchers in the field of Crystallography. His research into habit and structure of several chemical compounds and minerals using X-raydiffraction and even Transmission Electronic Microscopy revealed an exceptional scientific spirit. His main scientific contributions to the Crystallography field were more than a twenty structures of chemical compounds and minerals resolved, as well as a lot problems of mathematical crystallography applied to the interpretation of XRD patterns and crystal morphology prediction from crystallographic parameters. He has started his research career before the CivilWar, in the Institute of Physics and Chemistry of the «Junta de Ampliación de Estudios e Investigaciones Científicas», during the years noted as the Silver Age of Spanish Science. Afterthe Civil War Garrido followed his research activity despite political and academic difficulties,to agree to an academic tenure. However public and private international institutions have recognised his research effort with distinctions and honours.
