Abstract
The twentieth century did not represent any rupture with respect to the approaches developed by the post-impressionists regarding the questioning of the visible. The artistic movements that emerged during the first decades of the 20th century constituted the period of the first artistic avant-gardes. During these years different isms, each one with its own aesthetic and ideological presuppositions, even contradictory, but always linked to the reality of their time, followed one another with the same rapidity with which they disappeared, a reflection of the restlessness and conflict of the time in which they were engendered.
