Abstract
Bladder cancer is the most common septic tumor in men, being the tenth if both sexes are included. 20-25% of bladder tumors are muscle-infiltrating (MIBC), radical cystectomy with pelvic lymphadenectomy being the treatment of choice in these cases. MIBC has a 50% recurrence-free survival at five years. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy has shown an increase of up to 8%, but it is not clear which patients can benefit the most from it. In cancer patients, the tumor interacts with the body, giving rise to a systemic inflammatory reaction, with elevation of acute phase reactants, which in turn leads to a situation of malnutrition. In several types of solid tumors, it has been shown that this systemic inflammatory response has an important prognostic value, by favoring tumor growth and development...
