Desafíos y diálogos en la creación contemporánea. Vivir jugando de Kirti Cea y 100 de Julia Carbonell, dos miradas hacia la nueva creación fotográfica

Abstract

Esta investigación analiza en el marco del contexto de la fotografía emergente dos propuestas concretas: la serie «Vivir jugando» [2017] realizada por Kirti Cea [Patna, India 1999], con claras referencias a los trabajos de Pierre Javelle y Akiko Ida, Ciuco Gutiérrez o Sofiane Samial y, el titulado «100» [2018] de Julia Carbonell [Zaragoza, 1996], un proyecto a mitad de camino entre el popismo de Carlos Perez Siquier y la contundencia documental de Richard Billingham. Ambas artistas, representantes de la nueva etapa fotográfica, asiduas como la generación táctil a la que pertenecen a Instagram tanto para ver fotografía como para exhibir la suya propia y, teniendo como telón de fondo el tsunami que representa la presencia del Big Data en nuestras vidas, investigan la cotidianeidad de la naturaleza humana bien a partir del ámbito familiar en el caso de Julia Carbonell, convirtiendo a su abuela Angelita de 100 años en la absoluta protagonista de la serie, bien desde el ámbito social como Kirti Cea, creadora de un personal mundo imaginario habitado por juguetes que, suplantando la identidad humana, ilustra la riqueza y complejidad de las relaciones sociales, así como el modo en que se configuran nuestros recuerdos. Así, el objetivo de este estudio es dar a conocer a través de la exposición de ambos proyectos algunas de las ideas, estéticas y diálogos que está aportando la fotografía emergente en el contexto de la creación contemporánea. Una fotografía realizada por una generación numerosa de artistas «multitareas» –editores, comisarios/as, artesanos, productores, blogueros/as, etc.– que, en su objetivo de divulgar sus proyectos fotográficos, desafían cualquier tipo de convencionalismo técnico, estético o, incluso, teórico, trabajan en/con la fotografía, comparten e intercambian información en el marco de las redes sociales y, aún, no muy visibles en los circuitos habituales de exhibición, publicación y mercado del arte.

This research analyzes within the context of emerging photography two specific proposals: the series "Vivir jugando" [2017] made by Kirti Cea [Patna, India 1999], with clear references to the works of Pierre Javelle and Akiko Ida, Ciuco Gutiérrez or Sofiane Samial and, the titled "100" [2018] by Julia Carbonell [Zaragoza, 1996], a project halfway between the popism of Carlos Perez Siquier and the documentary forcefulness of Richard Billingham. Both artists, representatives of the new photographic stage, assiduous as the tactile generation to which they belong to Instagram both to view photography and to exhibit their own and, having as a backdrop the tsunami that represents the presence of Big Data in our lives, investigate the everydayness of human nature either from the family environment in the case of Julia Carbonell, turning her 100-year-old grandmother Angelita into the absolute protagonist of the series, or from the social sphere as Kirti Cea, creator of a personal imaginary world inhabited by toys that, supplanting human identity, illustrates the richness and complexity of social relationships, as well as the way in which our memories are configured. Thus, the objective of this study is to make known through the exhibition of both projects some of the ideas, aesthetics and dialogues that emerging photography is contributing in the context of contemporary creation. A photography made by a large generation of "multitasking" artists -editors, curators, artisans, producers, bloggers, etc.- who, in their aim to disseminate their photographic projects, defy any kind of technical, aesthetic or even theoretical conventionalism, work in/with photography, share and exchange information within the framework of social networks and, still, not very visible in the usual circuits of exhibition, publication and art market.
