Abstract

This work tries to locate what movies are telling about television and checking if what these movies are telling agrees with what people perceives by TV. In order to reach these goals 382 movies related to television were analysed. Objectives: 1) Define the vision of television as told by the cinema. 2) Locate the topics of the television most widely observed in our filmography. 3) Analyse the topics of the television story and its evolution within the filmography selected for this research. 4) Follow the evolution of these topics of the television in the cinema as represented in the movies selected for this case study. 5) Define the story of each topic through the filmography selected. 6) Broaden the study of TV told by cinema using C. Ehrlich’s (2004) or Pardo Alarcón’s (2000) works as a starting point. Due to the qualitative nature of this research, the triangulation of several methods has formed the heart of our methodology. This research has been divided into four stages: 1. Textual analysis of the bibliographic material + historical perspective (television spectrum). 2. Textual analysis + comparative method (sources: selected movies during stage 1). 3. Asian case study: Textual analysis of the bibliographic material + Textual analysis and comparative method (sources: Filmography selected during a visiting scholar period in Taipei - National Taiwan University of Arts and Taiwan National Central Library)...
