El asedio en imágenes. Recuperación y análisis de la documentación fotográfica del sitio del Alcázar de Toledo (1936)

Abstract

El propósito central de esta tesis doctoral ha sido analizar y contextualizar la documentación fotográfica y audiovisual producida por los reporteros gráficos durante el asedio del Alcázar de Toledo entre julio y septiembre de 1936, un episodio clave de la guerra civil española. A través dela investigación, se ha logrado identificar a más de sesenta fotógrafos, camarógrafos y aficionados, quienes capturaron con sus equipos tanto las acciones militares como la vida cotidiana de una ciudad en plena guerra. Se ha llevado a cabo un estudio exhaustivo sobre el impacto del asedio en la prensa ilustrada, donde trabajaban estos profesionales, y el papel de las agencias en la venta y distribución de la documentación gráfica a las redacciones de todo el mundo. El análisis del material original ha permitido profundizar en el estudio de los autores, su metodología de trabajo, y conocer los archivos e instituciones que conservan el legado de los principales reporteros gráficos del siglo XX que ejercieron en España...The main purpose of this Doctoral Thesis has been to analyze and contextualize the photographic and audiovisual documentation produced by photojournalists during the siege of the Alcazar of Toledo between July and September 1936, a key episode in the Spanish Civil War. Through the research, more than sixty photographers, cameramen, and amateurs have been identified, capturing both military actions and the everyday life of a city immersed in war with their equipment. An exhaustive study has been conducted on the impact of the siege on the illustrated press, where these professionals worked, and the role of agencies in selling and distributing this visual documentation to newsrooms worldwide.
