Abstract
The present Master’s thesis studies motherhood in its different representations in the literary works of María Teresa León, which presents itself as one of the participating elements in the construction of feminine identity for this author. In order to analyze the importance of motherhood in León’s works, one must begin with her central ideas to elucidate her literary texts and identify from them the key element of her literary production. In this way, a perspective of how motherhood appears in these works and the important role that it plays in her works is demonstrated. Motherhood in María Teresa León’s texts is addressed from two perspectives – bearing in mind that in both cases the weight of the author’s personal experience, which makes the study of her work require attention to her biography–: the mother-daughter relationship and the practice of motherhood.
