Abstract
American television fiction has constructed a stereotypical representation of wo-men journalists. However, in recent decades, and partly thanks to the incorporation of women into the creation and executive production of the series, these models have been updated, giving greater prominence, complexity and dramatic richness to the fe-male characters. The present study analyzes three American television fictions set in the world of journalism and created by women, Murphy Brown (Diane English), Good Girls Revolt (Dana Calvo) and Inventing Anna (Shonda Rhimes), to check if there are differences with respect to stereotypes gender and journalist models that have characterized this type of characters over decades. Among the conclusions, it should be noted that the women creators of the series analyzed tend to reduce the androcen-tric approach with a more respectful and realistic treatment of female characters.
