En lugar del cuerpo / El cuerpo como lugar. La invención de los estudios de la Academia

Abstract

RESUMEN: Si el artista es un inventor de lugares, el primero de todos ellos es el de su estudio, el de su taller. Este texto se ocupa de la relación entre el cuerpo y lugar en el concreto caso de los estudios de la Academia de España en Roma. Para ello se hace un recorrido por la historia del arte que ha habitado este edificio durante siglo y medio, siguiendo no solo sus remodelaciones arquitectónicas, sino los cambios en las propias prácticas artísticas. A partir del asunto del modelo en el estudio, se estudio los cambios que ha experimentado el cuerpo en el arte, desde su función de objeto representado hasta su agencia performativa a lo largo de la segunda mitad del siglo XX y comienzos del siglos XXI.ABSTRACT: If the artist is an inventor of places, the first of them all is that of his studio, his workshop. This text deals with the relationship between the body and place in the specific case of the studios of the Spanish Academy in Rome. To do so, it traces the history of the art that has inhabited this building for a century and a half, following not only its architectural remodelling, but also the changes in the artistic practices themselves. Starting with the issue of the model in the studio, we study the changes that the body has undergone in art, from its function as a represented object to its performative agency throughout the second half of the twentieth century and the beginning of the twenty-first century.
