Gestión de enlaces acortados en revistas científicas: instalación del software libre autoalojado y de código abierto YOURLS en la revista RIBES

Abstract

En esta editorial damos a conocer la instalación e implementación del software YOURLS para la gestión de enlaces acortados en RIBES (Revista de Investigación sobre Bibliotecas, Educación y Sociedad). En ocasiones hay que añadir a las referencias de trabajos científicos enlaces de recursos en la web que son largos o que pueden sufrir modificaciones a corto plazo. En ese sentido, se suele recurrir a servicios externos muchas veces con limitaciones en su uso en cuanto al número de enlaces acortados que permiten crear. En RIBES hemos instalado YOURLS, software libre, de código abierto y autoalojado que permite la gestión de enlaces acortados con control total desde la revista. En esta editorial damos a conocer el proceso de instalación y el uso que hacemos de YOURLS. Pensamos que puede servir de ejemplo a otras revistas e incluso editoriales evitando depender de servicios externos y contribuyendo a la ciencia abierta por la naturaleza libre y abierta del software instaladoWe introduce the installation and the implementation of YOURLS, a software for the management shortened links in RIBES (an emerging Spanish scientific journal on libraries, education and society). When editing scientific works, it is sometimes necessary to include web resources links in the bibliography or the references. Researchers often rely on external services with limitations in terms of usage and the number of shortened links they allow. In RIBES, we have installed YOURLS, a shelf-hosted, free and open source software for the management of shortened links. In this editorial, we outline the installation process and how we use YOURLS. Other journals and publishers could adopt a similar approach on the use of YOURLS for shortened links, avoiding dependence on external services and contributing to open science due to the use of free and open source software in the editorial process of scientific communication
