La comunicación gestual. Teoría de la Mente y Neuronas Espejo

Abstract

Los seres humanos nos comunicamos gracias al lenguaje, y también mediante gestos. La comunicación lingüística tiene sus orígenes, tanto filogenéticos como ontogenéticos, en la comunicación gestual. Analizamos dos marcos teóricos para explicar la comunicación gestual: la teoría de la mente y las neuronas espejo. Consideramos que ambas teorías se sitúan en distintos niveles explicativos, pero no son incompatibles. La teoría de la mente está en el marco de la psicología cognitiva y evolutiva, mientras que las neuronas espejo proporcionan explicaciones neurocientíficas, a nivel neuronal, de redes y sistemas.Human beings communicate through language, and also through gestures. Linguistic communication has its origins, both phylogenetic and ontogenetic, in gestural communication. We analyze two theoretical frameworks to explain gestural communication: Theory of Mind and Mirror Neurons. We consider that both theories are placed at different explanatory levels, but they are not incompatible. Theory of Mind is within the framework of cognitive and evolutionary psychology, while Mirror Neurons provide neuroscientific explanations, at the neural level, networks and systems.
