Abstract
The existence of endorheic basins in La Mancha (Central Spain) is mainly related to climate (tendency towards drier conditions), and geology. According to geomorphic criteria, several types of wetlands and endorheic basins are described in La Mancha in base to their origin: endogenic (volcanlsm, tectonics), and exogenic (karstic, fluvial and eolian processes). These geomorphic criteria fit also with geographic distribution patterns in terms of morphometry, sedimentology and hydrology.
