Abstract
Although the didactics of the language and especially of the foreign language proposes the concept of intercultural competence as one of the objectives in the teaching-learning process, little attention receives this concept in our classrooms. Many are the teachers who consider the linguistic competence as the most important and think that the communicative and intercultural competences belong to the field of the personal experience of the student. We believe that it is necessary to promote a new vision of the teaching of culture as a basis for communication, so that its treatment in the classroom ceases to be a set of knowledge about the history, geography, institutions of a country; Even less about the tourist characteristics of a country.
