Efectos de la inversión en infraestructuras de telecomunicaciones sobre el crecimiento de la economía española: producción,inversión y empleo.

Abstract

En este trabajo cuantificamos los efectos económicos de la inversión en infraestructuras de telecomunicaciones en España sobre la producción, el empleo y la inversión agregados usando datos anuales del período 1964-1993. Para ello usamos un modelo estocástico multivariante que permite relaciones de realimentación entre todas las variables. Se encuentran efectos positivos y significativos sobre la producción, el empleo y la inversión agregados, que sugieren que regular y liberalizar los mercados de telecomunicaciones, así como eliminar las actuales limitaciones a la inversión resultaría beneficioso para el conjunto de la economía española.In this paper we estimate the effects of the investment in infrastructures of telecommunications on aggregate output, employment and investment in the Spanish economy using yearly data for the period 1964-1993. We use a dynamic multivariate framework, which allows for explicit feedbacks among all variables. We find significant effects on aggregate output, employment and investment, which suggest that regulating and liberalizing the market for telecommunications and removing the existing barriers to investment would be beneficial for the Spanish economy.
