Abstract
This study is focused on the audiovisual works directed by a group of women filmmakers since 2000 in Spain and in nine Latin American countries. All of them were born in the last third of the20th century and their work has been acknowledged in different film criticism forums. Thestarting point is a broad theoretical journey along the transition from the keys of modernity to postmodern divergent thought. Then, the main elements of feminist film theory, characterized by its interdisciplinarity, are addressed, with special interest in the influence of decolonial studiesand situated knowledges. In a second stage, on the one hand, a thematic analysis has been carried out, as well as an examination of the formal elements and the audiovisual materials used in these films, according to six major themes or ways of approaching the representation of women, which are as follows: 1. To make films in other territories; 2. Reflections on domestic work; 3. Motherhood and family models in conflict; 4. Portraits of women against adversity; 5. Memory and projection in the work with archives and 6. Hybrid formats and experimentation. On the other hand, a socio-cultural interpretation has been made based on the study of the different spaces displayed, taking as a basis the concept of heterotopia. This term is understood as a space of possibility for the creation of new meaningful relationships. The portrait of people and places from a feminist point of view is the backbone of the six topics.
