La muerte diseñada: representación e invisibilidad de la muerte en prácticas artísticas en España (1975-2025)

Abstract

Hablar de la muerte siempre ha supuesto un desafío. Desde los tiempos más remotos, la humanidad se ha preguntado qué significa morir y cómo convivir con esa certeza inevitable. Sin embargo, ¿qué ocurre en una sociedad como la actual, donde la muerte parece haberse convertido en un tema prohibido, invisible o relegado al silencio? Este interrogante constituye el núcleo de la investigación titulada La muerte diseñada: Representación e invisibilidad de la muerte en prácticas artísticas en España (1975–2025).El estudio parte de una premisa fundamental: se trata de una investigación inscrita en el ámbito de las Bellas Artes. Aunque la muerte ha sido objeto de reflexión en disciplinas como la antropología, la filosofía o la sociología, el análisis aquí desarrollado no pretende invadir dichos campos, sino tomar de ellos aportes conceptuales para enriquecer una mirada estrictamente artística. La perspectiva se centra en comprender cómo los lenguajes visuales y plásticos abordan la representación de la muerte en el contexto contemporáneo, evidenciando tanto su invisibilización como sus formas de reapropiación simbólica...Talking about death has always been a challenge. Since ancient times, humanity has wondered what it means to die and how to live with this inevitable certainty. However, what happens in a society like today’s, where death seems to have become a forbidden, invisible, or silenced topic? This question is at the heart of the research entitled Designed Death: Representation and Invisibility of Death in Artistic Practices in Spain (1975–2025). The study is based on a fundamental premise: it is an investigation within the field of Fine Arts. Although death has been the subject of reflection in disciplines such as anthropology, philosophy, and sociology, the analysis developed here does not seek to invade these fields, but rather to draw conceptual insights from them to enrich a strictly artistic perspective.
