Abstract
Howard Gardner‟s theory of Multiple Intelligences has meant a revolution within the field of the theories of mind by providing new knowledge on the nature of mind which is extremely relevant when it comes to understanding the way in which learning takes place. Multiple Intelligences theory can be an inspiring starting point for educators when it comes to designing teaching programs which are consistent with an accurate and realistic vision of the ways in which learning content is presented. New knowledge can be accessed in a meaningful and abiding way when teaching methods are used in connection with the theory of Multiple intelligences. The assumptions above mentioned could be applied in a wide range of educational settings but our study will explore the implications of the theory within the field of foreign language teaching, focusing on how classroom techniques, materials and procedures can benefit from the implementation of the theory of Multiple Intelligences in the classroom. The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) takes into account the fact that in order to achieve proficiency in a language, other dimensions, apart from the linguistic itself, must come into play. Aspects relating to personality characteristics, attitudes and temperament gain relevance when taken into consideration for learning and teaching purposes as they are regarded as part of an individual‟s competences and abilities. On the other hand, the Framework points out that taking into account the effect of motivational factors is an advisable step in order to devise learning programs as motivation plays a fundamental role in learning and in the development of linguistic competence...
