Abstract
The incorporation of a new generation of Information and Communication Technologies to the productive system has motivated, as in the past, a great academic and social debate around two major issues. Firstly, on the social consequences for the volume of employment that the current phase of technological and organizational innovation in companies will have and the consequent replacement of workers by machines. A second topic of interest lies in the changes in working conditions that will occur in jobs and occupations, and that will accompany technological innovations. This second topic of discussion where this thesis is framed, which aims to provider a novel approach to the study or effects of technological and organizational innovation in companies on working conditions. We have limited the scope of study to the digital transformation of companies in the industrial sector (or industry 4.0). In addition, due to the multidimensional nature of occupational impact, a multi-method research design has been constructed, with the use of different research techniques -documentation, analysis of statistical sources, in-depth interviews, and survey- and the triangulation of results between them. Overall, 36 interlocutors were interviewed for the research, and 87 industry workers participated in the survey...
