Abstract
The Royal Spanish Academy has in its archives documentation on the bookbinders who have worked for it from its foundation in the 18th century until the second half of the 20th century. Among these documents we have found an invoice from the widow of the bookbinder Francisco García Alonso, Gertrudis López Lledó and her son Antonio García López, with a workshop in Madrid, indicating the binding of 129 works and 200 volumes, of which we have been able to locate 108 works and 131 volumes. The present work studies the former owners of these works located in the deposits of the Royal Academy, adding the ownership mark, the call number and bibliographical references of the work, as well as a biographical sketch of the former owner, thus gaining a better understanding of the former owners, the history of the Royal Spanish Academy and the type of works that came to the corporation.
