Abstract
A study of this kind serves to outline how two societies as distant as the Chinese and the Spanish have been shaped. The universe of idioms is a condition of each speaker, of each family, of each social sphere, etc. It is always based on a subjective criterion which comes from the so-called "creation", "imagination", "inventiveness" of a speaker. It is too difficult to fix our working material in a single formula, even if sometimes there is one. It is quite likely that, both nowadays and historically, idioms indicate points and manners which are of interest to speakers for some reason: they are the places where everyone goes or, when someone uses them, they interest everyone. They are common places where imagination and linguistic recreation entertain themselves. In my case it happens with hand, feet, nose, etc. The present thesis entitled 'Contribution to the study of the comparative somatic phraseology of Spanish and Chinese - idioms' attempts to carry out an investigation into the somatic phraseological confrontation between the two languages referred to, which is a field that has not been systematically cultivated to date; and it is unavoidable for anyone attempting to study the phraseological units of either of these languages...
