Abstract
This final project is a theoretical-practical research, of a qualitative nature, on the proposal implemented between January and April 2023 at the Prodis Foundation, an institution dedicated to the social and professional integration of people with intellectual disabilities. The project consists of different creative workshops in which collage and textile collage are used as tools to help these young people to express themselves artistically, to think deeply about their own creative process and, by doing so, to discover and create their own paths as artists, with complete freedom and power of choice. The aim is to go beyond the rehabilitative approach to art applied to people with intellectual disabilities and to instead recognise them as real creators. Through a case study and action research, we participate in the context, doing our best to overcome the strict working methods of the centre, fostering experimentation, discovery and critical reflection, encouraging the students to create their own concept of themselves as artists, and ultimately contributing to their professionalisation in the field of the arts and culture. Although very varied, the results show a positive increase in self-confidence, motivation, self-fulfilment and the students' own perception of themselves as genuine artists who see art as an excellent option for their personal and professional development.
