Abstract
After the COVID-19 global pandemic, the need to adapt from a physical learning environment to an online learning environment was a necessity; this also includes musical education, which is still in the process of adapting to new technologies. In the field of piano education, there is a need for applications that are able to adapt and complement traditional education instead of trying to replace a traditional learning environment, whether it be in an academy or a private teacher. The existence of a tool with these characteristics would be especially useful for students who are in their first years of musical education, that if developed accordingly, could improve the students’ motivation, help them practice on their own and give them the opportunity to visualise their progress as they improve skills on the instrument. The purpose of this project is to develop a serious game in Unity that allows piano teachers and students to connect virtually. This tool will give teachers the opportunity to create personalised exercises for their students, therefore allowing them to practice at home in an entertaining and a gratifying way. The user will only need a Windows computer and a compatible MIDI controller. The app is totally free and avaliable on Itch.io and GitHub. The tool has also been evaluated using SUS (System Usability Scale) tests with potiential users and the results, although still discreet, show promising lines of future work for the improvement and polishing of a future product.
