Abstract
The rural environment has a large part of the preserved heritage and in danger of disappearing. In recent years, both internationally and nationally, within the field of cultural heritage management, numerous projects have been carried out with their focus on the revitalization of rural environments, using heritage and culture as democratizing tools. Seeking to unify these two aspects, cultural heritage in danger and revitalization of the rural environment, a proposal is put forward to revitalize and recover the Castell of Castellcir “La Popa”, an 11th century castle with high historical and artistic value, located in a rural environment and included in the Red List (Lista Roja) of Hispania Nostra. Through a case study it will be established the methodology of application and the approach of intervention alternatives that contribute to the development of the social fabric and the creation of community, having culture and heritage as a backbone element. This example will allow to establish itself as a model applicable to other assets that are in danger of disappearing and that seek the active participation of rural actors, therefore there will be proposed the creation of a project called “Itinerant Festival”
