Abstract
Los museos del siglo XXI están orientados al desarrollo de su función comunicativa y de interacción con la sociedad, lo que los ha llevado a prestar más atención al público en general y a los hablantes de otras lenguas en particular. Para ellos la traducción resulta imprescindible, facilita la accesibilidad y cumple además una función de mediación cultural. La comunicación en el museo se vehicula con la exposición, que puede ser permanente o temporal. Por definición, los museos son instituciones permanentes, pero mediante las exposiciones temporales se actualizan y consiguen atraer mayor número de visitantes, además de motivar la investigación y el intercambio de obras entre museos. The museums of the twenty-first century are oriented towards the development of their communicative function and interaction with society, which has led them to pay more attention to the public in general and to speakers of other languages in particular.
