Diversidad nomenclatorial y unicidad conceptual de las llamadas zonas oppelianas

Abstract

A juzgar por los trabajos bioestratigráficos publicados durante los últimos años, los nombres de lo que distintos autores llaman zonas oppelianas son establecidos con criterios diferentes. Sin embargo, este tratamiento diferencial no parece estar justilicado por razones teoréticas, lógicas, metodológicas o lingüísticas y en consecuencia debería ser eliminado en favor del más adecuado. A fin de proponer una solución en este artículo tratamos el significado de algunos términos bioestratigráficos y biocronológicos, además de sus implicaciones nomenclatoriales. [ABSTRACT] According to the recently published biostratigraphic papers, the names of what different authors call oppelian-zones are established on the basis of separate criteria. However, such differential treatment does not appear to be justified by theoretical, logical, methodological or linguistic reasons, and should, therefore, be rejected in favour of the most appropriate one. The meaning of sorne biostratigraphical and biochronological terms is here discussed. as well as their nomenclatorial implications, in order to pro pose a valuable solution.
