Abstract

The knowledge about Ammonites in Spain, between Torrubia (1754) and the beginning of the XIXth, is analyshed together with an evaluation of possibility for the existence of a real palaeontological research. During the XIXth, the information about Ammonites increased is Spain in relation with developing research on Geology and Stratigraphy as well as with contributions made by foreing geologists and palaeontologists.
