Abstract
La investigación indaga el monumento y el memorial como lugares memorativos, es decir, como instancias materiales de la memoria cultural que registran, conservan y difunden las huellas, los indicios, las evidencias o los signos de los acontecimientos del pasado dentro de unos procesos de larga duración, así como medios historiopoéticos que a través de las pragmáticas del rito vierten estas presencias de lo acontecido en unas estructuras del presente. Los lugares memorativos así asumidos se muestran como formas simbólicas que ostentan un poder ficcional que puede hacernos creer en unos acontecimientos pretéritos por creados que ellos sean o que pueden crear unos acontecimientos pretéritos para que sean creídos. Para ejercer este poder, los lugares memorativos se deben a la comunicación que mantienen con los espacios materiales, sociales y simbólicos propios del mundo social en curso, los cuales les confieren las condiciones de posibilidad para hacerse físicamente a los íconos sobrevivientes del acontecimiento pasado (la memoria o la acción mnemónica), para disponer los índices para que repitan o enriquezcan los íconos de este acontecimiento (la mímesis o la acción indexical) y para proyectar estos índices como símbolos que garantizan que lo acontecido pueda ser transmitido a diferentes comunidades en el espacio y en el tiempo (la metáfora o la acción anamnética). La investigación se remite a los monumentos y los memoriales con restos mortales, es decir, que contienen huesos, entrañas o cenizas de seres humanos, los cuales pueden considerarse una expresión del patrón funerario de entierro secundario...
The doctoral research investigates the monument and the memorial as memorative places. Memorative places are understood, on the one hand, as material instances of cultural memory that record, preserve, and disseminate traces, clues, evidence, or signs of past events within long-term processes; on the other hand, as historiopoetic means that through rituals with the pragmatics of their languages can pour these traces, clues, evidence, or signs into structures of the present time. The monument and the memorial as memorative places are therefore symbolic forms that confer spatial and temporal frameworks on events, ones that provide them with objectivity and prepare them for subjectivity, thereby making them possible for remembering and forgetting. In this sense, these symbolic forms have a fictional power that allows us to believe in events in the present even if they are creations of the past, or to create events from the past to the extent that they become beliefs in the present. To exercise this power, memorative places rely on their ongoing communication with the material, social and symbolic spaces of the current social world, which provide the conditions of possibility to acquire the surviving icons of the past event (memory or mnemonic action), to arrange the indexes that allow us to point out, repeat and enrich the icons of this event (mimesis or indexed action) and to project the indexes in the form of messages that guarantee that what happened can be transmitted to different communities in space and time (metaphor or symbolic action). The research specifically focuses on monuments and memorials containing mortal remains, such as bones, entrails, or ashes of human beings, which can be considered a particular expression of the funerary pattern of double funerals or secondary burial. In this case, monuments and memorials are tied to a mortuary event, of which the most elemental and powerful icons, such as mortal remains, survive...
