Abstract
The translation into Spanish of books in the Marxist tradition, a tradition of which Rosa Luxemburg’s works form part, is a historically and politically situated practice that goes beyond the strictly linguistic, and in which the phenomenon of translationis fundamental to the construction of the history of the workers’ movement, just as the historical context is essential to understanding the translating activity and the role of translators in this process. This research addresses the translation into Spanish and the reception of Rosa Luxemburg’s works in Spain and, in particular, the translations of the only two anthologies published in the 1970s, which include some of the works considered classics by the revolutionary Marxist. In particular, a comparative analysis of the paratextual elements of both editions is carried out, while the role of translators and editors in the complex set of socio-cultural and political practices involved in the publication of these works is studied, as well as the reception of her work in the publishing field and the political and organizational space of the Spanish radical left...
