Soy Cristina de Jesús : la remitificación feminista de Teresa de Jesús según Cristina Morales

Abstract

RESUMEN: El presente artículo analiza la figura de Teresa de Jesús en la novela de Cristina Morales «Introducción a Teresa de Jesús» (2020), que se construye como si fuera una versión sin censurar del «Libro de la vida». Para ello, examinamos la composición poliédrica del relato a partir de sus elementos constitutivos: el diálogo que establece con el texto matriz, el modo en que se manejan las fuentes historiográficas, y la inserción de determinados episodios ficcionales. El estudio de estos tres ejes muestra cómo la autora traza una serie de paralelismos entre el texto de la madre Teresa y su propia biografía, mecanismo que le permite actualizar el protofeminismo de Teresa de Jesús y elaborar un retrato remitificado en clave feminista de la santa de Ávila.

ABSTRACT: This article analyzes the figure of Teresa de Jesús in Cristina Morales’s fiction «Introducción a Teresa de Jesús» (2020), which is built as an uncensored version of «The Book of My Life». We start by examining the polyhedral composition of the plot from its constituent elements: the dialogue established with the parent text, the use of the historiographical sources and the insertion of certain fictional episodes. The study of these three axes shows how the author draws a series of parallels between the text of Mother Teresa and her own biography, a mechanism that allows her to update the proto-feminism of Teresa de Jesús and, thus, elaborate a feminist and remythologized portrait of the saint of Avila.
