El significado como proceso: connotación y referencia

Abstract

El significado se considera como proceso cognoscitivo consistente en la reducción de unidades de información a unidades complejas de nivel superior, en el cual el hablante establece una jerarquía que el oyente recupera siguiendo el proceso inverso. La información previamente considerada connotativa o referencial se incluye así en el proceso de significación. La variación y el cambio están integradas como diferencias en el proceso de reducción y recuperación en este modelo del significado como acción. Meaning is considered to be a cognitive process involving the reduction of sets of information units into higher-level complex units, whereby the speaker sets a hierarchy that the hearer retrieves following the inverse process. Information previously considered connotative o referential is thus included in the meaning process. Variation and change are built-in as differences in the reduction and recuperation process in this meaning-as-action model.
